Have you ever gone on a camp retreat and felt that spark of rejuvenation? Whether you attended as a kid or an adult, there’s something magical about turning off your life for a few precious moments and rediscovering your passion.
When you’re not chosen for a contest, a mentorship, or if you’re sitting on an inbox full of story rejections, it can begin to weigh you down. These moments often come with self-doubt, hesitation, or feelings of dejection. But you are not alone—and the RevPit community is here to help.
Welcome to #CampRevPit!
Under the #RevPit flag, RevPit authors and alumni want to recapture that camp spirit and help writers rediscover their writing passion. We are on a mission to support the #RevPit community with new opportunities to find feedback, encouragement, and writer buddies that could turn into lifelong partnerships—along with some fun Bluesky games to keep the sun shining through the dark clouds.
What is #CampRevPit?
Under the #RevPit flag, #CampRevPit is a social media-based writers’ “camp” led by #RevPit authors and alumni. This event is open to the whole writing community, not only people who submitted to the annual contest and includes a full schedule of events aimed at creating community and providing support and inspiration.
Unlike other #RevPit events, #CampRevPit is author-led by our team of Camp Counselors, made up of RevPit authors and alumni. Our goal is to offer an opportunity for every writer to get the inspiration and support they need, regardless of where they are in their journey.
Our camp has three types of activities, and you’re welcome to join any—or all!
Camp Activities
PROMPTS AND GAMES
- What: Follow the #CampRevPit hashtag to play along with Bluesky prompts and games throughout each week! Click here to go straight to the feed.
- To pin the feed, tap the pin button that looks like a thumb tack. Then you can swipe between your main feed and the RevPit feed.
- Why: #CampRevPit games challenge you to think critically about writing craft, connect with new writer friends, and give you a chance to show off your awesome story and characters!
- How to join: No need to sign up--just follow the hashtag and join in the fun! Don’t forget to add #CampRevPit to your tweets so others can find them!
- When: Prompts and games run from April 21, 2025 – May 4, 2025.
CABINS
- What: The #CampRevPit cabins are voluntary feeds on Bluesky. You don’t have to join a cabin to participate in the other activities, but they’re a great way to meet new friends in the writing community! Campers who join cabins will be matched up with a small group of other writers and have their very own Cabin Counselor. As you get to know each other, there will be writing sprints (or crawls!) and other games to help you make friends and support each other.
- Why: Part of what makes the #RevPit experience so great is the community. Just like real camp cabins, #CampRevPit cabins give you a group of writers you can talk to about your writing, share inspiration, ask questions, and connect with other people who understand what you’re going through!
- How to join: Registration is open April 14-16, 2025, on this page. (Watch the RevPit Bluesky account–we will repost the link). If you don’t know how to add feeds to your list, your counselor will be able to help!
- When: Registration opens April 14, 2025 and will close April 16, 2025. Cabins run from April 21–May 4, 2025.
FEEDBACK
- What: This activity is separate from the cabins. If you choose to sign up, you will be matched with another writer in the same age category and genre. You and your partner will swap materials in whichever way makes sense (email, Google Drive, etc.) and provide each other with feedback. This means each camper will both receive and give feedback. You can choose from three types of feedback (and select any/all):
- Query critique: Polish your query materials.
- First 5 pages critique: Make a great impression with that crucial first pages.
- First 5 pages positivity pass: Focus on what makes your work shine.
- Why: This activity is perfect for anyone seeking an extra set of eyes on their query package, first pages, or even just a boost of confidence.
- How to join: Registration is open April 14-16, 2025, on this page. (Watch the RevPit Bluesky account–we will repost the link). You will then be connected with your partner via email.
- When: Registration opens April 14, 2025. Feedback swaps begin April 21, 2025.
How do I participate?
Everyone can participate in the prompts and games on Bluesky--no sign up required! But we need authors interested in joining the cabins and feedback to sign up so we can match everyone. This event is open to the whole writing community, not only people who submitted to the annual contest.
Sign up is open April 14-16, 2025
